When one from a foreign country thinks of Brazil, the first images that will come to their mind are probably Pão de Açúcar, Copacabana beach, rain forest, samba, Rio de Janeiro and great soccer (well, not this year, but that’s another story…). In fact, reality may contain many of these clichés, but Brazil is more multifarious and opposed.

Free images and clip art are great to find. After all, they allow you to make use of other’s work without paying a single penny. Unfortunately, just because something is free does not mean that it is Copyright-free. See, Copyright-free (often referred to as public domain) images and clip art are those that can be used under any circumstance. They can be used for personal projects or commercial endeavors. They can be kept as is or modified to your hearts content. All of this can be done, legally, without any form of attribution. In other words, if you use a public domain clip art image in a commercial project, you need not contact its author to ask for permission.

In my post the other day on Finding Images on the Internet, I led with a photo collage. Also the heading on today’s post is another photo collage. To get these graphics I first tried searching google images and some stock photo sites for a while, but I couldn’t find what I wanted. Further searching led me to a pretty cool website called Shape Collage. They let you build your own photo collages for free.
I just added some of their recommended image source sites into the text box and selected the square shape. Then I clicked “Create” and voila! The two images today are “PVM” and “MAX”. These were created by...

Photoshop is a very useful program. Some of you might know it as an image editor. Well that’s true, 5 years ago! Earlier version of Photoshop is so powerful that you can create almost anything with it. I do a lot of icon designing lately and it’s all done in Photoshop. The advantage of using Photoshop to create icon is you can combine pixel painting with Photoshop’s vector tool. This tutorial show us how easy it is creating a magnifying glass icon in Photoshop.
